I JUST ABOUT DIED!!!!!

Long time no wooo, Furiends!

I got some other stuff to woo about, but first I gotta tell you about my near death experience!  This is not like that time I got my collar caught on a tree in the quarry or my head stuck in some ropes and Mom had to save me.  Or that time I thought I was dying cuz I got three porcupine quills in my nose!  This time I really, really almost died!

On July 29th, my sisfur, Pingo, went to the Bridge.  She was super old and it wasn't a big suprise, but we were all still very sad.  I never knew life here without Pingo.  She was here long before me!So Mom wasn't too concerned when I was a bit blah after Pingo died.  We all get a little blah when we lose a friend, right?

Mom had to leave two days after Pingo died.  She was going to a big family reunion in Saskatchewan. I have no idea where that is, but I think it's far away from the Yukon!  So our Uncle Todd moved in and was taking care of us.  He's good at that!  He stays here when the humans go on vacations and stuff!  The very first night he was here, he texted my Mom and said I wasn't feeling well and he was a bit worried.  Mom decided better safe than sorry so she emailed our Dr. Candace and made arrangements for me to go to the clinic in the morning.

Good thing she did that and that Uncle Todd was paying attention to me!  The next morning, I couldn't hardly stand up by myself. My legs kept giving out. I was all wobbly and weak.  I couldn't walk to the van by myself. Uncle Todd had to carry me!  Dr. Candace didn't wait one minute to start helping me!  She put me on fluids and stole my blood and gave me some medicine.  I was one sick puppy.  Dr. Candace said another hour and I would have been a dead puppy!!!

Turns out that I have Addison's disease!  I was in an Addison's crisis!  My kidneys weren't working and my heart was failing.  I was really just about dead!  I had to spend five days at the clinic. I got a bunch of fluids pumped into me, a whole whack of medicine and lots of loving from the staff.  Even sick, I'm pretty loveable!

I'm doing much, much better now.  I'm back to my bouncy, happy self. Mom says she can tell now that I haven't been feeling well for quite awhile, but I never acted really sick and most days I seemed just fine.   Mom even had me checked me out a couple months ago cuz I was losing some weight, but no one was too worried since I still looked ok.   Us critters never like to tell the humans that we are feeling puny!

I will have to take medicine for the rest of my life.  Right now I take six tablets a day!  I'm a good girl though and wolf them right down. Pill Pockets are yummy!  I will also have to see Dr. Candace more often.  I need to get my blood checked regularly to make sure everything is under control.  Mom has to learn to manage my Addison's.  It can't be cured, but it can be controlled!

But Dr. Candace says I can still have a long, happy, active life!  I'm not allowed to go running with Mom yet, but in a couple weeks I will be able to resume my activities!  I'm not supposed to get too stressed.  My body can't make the stuff that helps you deal with stress. I guess that means Mom will have to stay home forever!  Yup, that sounds good to me ! Or take me with her everywhere she goes! :)

Me and Mom are forever grateful to Uncle Todd for getting me to the vet before it was too late to save me!  And to Dr. Candace for knowing just what to do to save my life. Mom just can't imagine losing me yet. I'm not even 7!  I got a lot of adventuring to do yet!

WOOOOOFY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE

From Everyone in my family to All of you,
we send wishes for a very happy holiday season and much happiness in the new year!

My brofurr,Deuce

Woo, Furiends

We lost another member of our pack this month.

My brother, Deuce, went to the Bridge on December 4. We were all very shocked. Deuce hadn't been acting sick at all until the day Mom took him to the vet. Our usual doctor couldn't see Deuce so he went to a different clinic, where we used to go all the time. Dr. Michelle Brown did everything she could for Deuce, but he was very, very, very sick. He had been hiding cancer bugs in his tummy! Mom & Dad had to let Deuce go.

Deuce had been here since May 2005. Dad brought him home from the shelter. Deuce was a wild dog with a whole bunch of energy. He did not like the shelter! Deuce did like it here and he LOVED Raven!! They were the very best of friends! Raven was very sad without her buddy. Mom moved her into the shop pen & she is getting happier now!

Mom says Deuce wasn't an easy a dog, but he was easy to love! We will miss him!

I bet Deuce is causing a ruckus in heaven! He loved to cause a big ruckus!

Tehya Time

Wooooo Furiends

Here's the happy post I was talking about last time!

Since I am the Babydog around here, all the other dogs are way older than me and sometimes they don't really appreciate my youthful enthusiasm!  Mom has started Tehya Time to get me out of everyone else's fur!

At least once a week, we have Tehya Time.  We go somewhere, just the two of us!  One time we went to town and went on a paved trail.  Who knew such a thing even existed!?
There were lots of stuff to see and smell.  So many people out with their dogs! I got to help socialize a puppy!  That was fun!  Town was kinda cool!

Last week we drove a little way from our house and went on this trail.
We had to cross a bridge!  Bridges are weird and I always have to check them out!
But once we got over the weird bridge, I got to go ripping around off-leash!  There were no other people around and no dogs!  We hiked a really long time.  But then Mom started seeing a whole bunch of really big paw prints, like bigger than my malamute brofurr, Heyoka's paws!  Yup, there is a wolf pack back there somewhere!  Mom decided we should leave before I playbowed at a wolf!
Mom has taken up running too.  Mostly she has to use her treadmill now cuz it's dark after her work is done now!  It's dark alot here in the winter!  But on the weekends she goes running outside and most of the time I get to go.  Usually I have to stay on my leash and trot beside Mom...Lordy humans run slow!  Today we went for a 5km run and on our way home, we went passed Daisy's house!  She decided to join us and came to my house!

Tehya Time is lots of fun!

Sad news

WOOOO everyone

I gotta get some sad news outta the way before I do a happy post.  My family lost our two founding members last month.

This is Glacier.  He was my momma's very first pet that she got all on her own as a grown-up.  He had been with mom since he was a tiny 6 week old kitten.  Mom thought he would be around for a few more years.  Glacier was 14, but that ain't all that old for a cat who's been spoiled and in the house his whole life!

Glacier didn't act sick until just 2 days before he died.  Mom took him to see Dr. Candace cuz he just seemed blah; he wasn't purring and snuggling like Glacier always did.  It turned out that Glacier had those dang cancer bugs in his tummy.  Dr. Candace did her very best, as she always does, but Glacier was just getting sicker and sicker. So Mom had no choice but to let him go across the Bridge.   Glacier died with Mom holding him on October 11, 2012.
This is Muskwa! Muskwa was with our Dad since he was a wee puppy.  He'd been with Dad longer than Mom!  In June of this year, Muskwa got really sick all of the sudden.  His liver was not working right and he was feeling crummy.  He got some medicine, extra foodies, and saw Dr. Candace alot!

Muskwa was always a very stubborn dog, so when he was told he was only going to live a few weeks, he decided not to listen!  He lived another four months!  Mostly he did good too with just a few bad days in between mostly good days.

But eventually even the most stubborn dog has to give in!  Muskwa's old body just couldn't keep up any more!  He turned 15 years old on October 20!  On October 24, my humans helped Muskwa to be free from his failing body.

Glacier and Muskwa started our furry family.  We all miss them very much, but we are also very glad of them.  Who knows what would have happened to the rest of us if there had never been Glacier & Muskwa?!!

Godspeed my brofurrs.

Biking

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO furiends

Me and Mom went biking today.  Our weather has been just terrible.  There hasn't been any nice summery bike riding weather!  Tonight, we decided to quit waiting and go biking anyway!
This is me on the springer gizmo.  I was being lazy here and making Mom do all the work going up a hill!  Harooooooooooo!!!
After all, a tired human is a good human!

Bootsie Roo is all Better

Wooooooooooooooo Furiends

I forgot to update y'all on my brofurr, Boots!  It took a really long time and lots of help from our vet and lots of work by Mom.  She didn't sleep much for a couple weeks.  Boots kept hacking his feeding tube out, but he wouldn't eat on his own.  He had to have surgery a couple times and finally Mom just started shooting food into his mouth from a syringe.  But I am happy to report that it all worked out in the end!
Boots is all better now!  He is eating his foodies all by himself.  His head bones is healed up and he doesn't need to go to the vet anymore!  He is back to being happy and purring and killing mousies!

We are all so very glad that Bootsie is ok!

Bootsie Update

Woooo Furiends

Thanks everyone for crossing your paws for my kitty brofurr.  Boots has had a very rough week.  He came home for a couple days, but he wouldn't eat any foodies.  Mom and Dr. Candace tried everything they could think of to get him to eat...foodies of all kinds, human foodies, treats, and even some medicine.  But Boots just would't eat!  When kitties don't eat even for just a few days, they can get very, very , very sick!

So Boots when back to the clinic and Tuesday a feeding tube was put in his neck.  It goes right into his tummy and liquid foodies gets squirted into it four times a day!  It looks like it would bug Boots, but it don't seem to at all.  Dr. Candace said most cats don't care too much when they get feeding tubes!  The foodies makes them feel better no matter how they get 'em!

Tomorrow Mom is going to the clinic and one of the nice vet tech ladies is gonna teach her how to feed Boots through that tube and then he gets to COME HOME!!!

Boots needs that tube until he remembers how to eat foodies the regular way!  Please keep your paws crossed that his nose gets all healed up and Boots starts to eat again!  He still needs all the prayers and good vibes he can get!

Thanks furiends!

My kitty brofurr need purrs and wooos

Woooooooooooooo Furiends

I gotta really hurty brofurr.  My kitty brofurr, Boots, has been at the vet for two nights.  He don't get to come home until Friday night at the earliest.

A couple days ago, there was a cat fight in the night.  Those cats don't get along so good sometimes.  They don't hurt each other though, mostly they just hiss and spit!  Mom yells KNOCK IT OFF and everyone behaves for awhile.  Mom thought that's all it was, just the cats talking trash to each other.

But this time a kitty got hurt!  We ain't 'xactly sure what happened, but Mom and Dr. Candace think that those hissing cats scared one of us doggers who was asleep at the time.  That dogger got scared and sorta snapped...you know how us dogs do sometimes when we are startled.

Boots' head was in the way of that snap!  He gots a broken bone in his face and it's making it real hard for him to breath and eat!  His face is all swelled up and he's super hurty.  Our vet is taking real good care of him and he's getting better, but he still needs all the purrs and woos and prayers and whatever good stuff you got!
This is Boots. He's about the nicest cat anyone ever met.  He is full of purrs and headbonks.  He is every one's friend!  We really want him to come home and be happy and healthy again!

It wasn't me for sure, but I know that none of us meant to hurt Boots. We all know that we ain't allowed to bug the cats; the house is kitty territory!  It was just a terrible accident.  Mom is making some changes to try and make sure this don't happen again. Right now we just need Bootsie Wootsie Woo Woo to get better and come home!

Please cross your paws for my brofurr

Happy Delta Day!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Furiends

Mom says today is St. Patrick's Day, but that's not what we celebrate at my house.  We celebrate Delta Day!

Delta is my brofur. He is super shy.  He likes other dogs, but he don't like people much!  Weird!   He's not mean or bitey to people.  He's just very timid and tries to avoid them.  Mom says Delta had a very bad puppyhood and he never learned that people can be nice.  It's real hard to learn that when you are a grown up dog!

One day six years ago, Delta got out of our yard somehow.  I wasn't even born yet, but I have heard the story.  My Mom and Dad searched and searched for him.  They put up posters everywhere...over 300 of them!  They took out ads in the newspaper and every day they walked and drove around calling for Delta.  It was a terrible time for my parents.  They were so worried about Delta!

Then one day a man called and said that he thought Delta was hanging around with his dog.  Mom drove out to his house right away. He lived over 50 kilometres from our house!  A very long way for a dogger to run by themselves!  Sure enough it was Delta!  It took Mom a couple more days to catch him.  Delta is hard to catch at home and after being on his own for so long, he was pretty much a wild dog!!!!

Delta was gone for a whole MONTH!!  A MONTH!!!  I can't imagine being away from my Mom for that long with no foodies and no warm house to sleep in!  There's wolves, moose, and cars and all sorts of things out there that could have hurt Delta!  It's a miracle that he survived!
March 17 is the day my Mom finally caught Delta and put him in her truck and drove him home!
Happy Delta Day everyone!

Happy Tehya Day!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO Furiends

Happy Tehya Day!
Actually Happy Belated Tehya Day!  I was too busy celebrating to post anything!
Five years ago on March 5, I came to live at Wandering Spirits Kennels!  I was all little and puny, but I was full of energy and ready to make new friends!
Five whole years!!!  Time flies when you are having fun and I've been having fun since I got here.
I celebrated by running around, chewing on bones, wrassling and giving Anvik's head a little chew!  He loves that!

Happy Tehya Day!

I got abandoned!!!

Woooo Furiends!!

I got abandoned again!!!
My humans went on holidays and they left me at home!!! My friends, Mike and Buddy, took turns taking care of me and all of the others, but still!! Why didn't I get to go on vacation too!!??

My humans went to Roatan, Honduras.

Doesn't it look nice there?
Mom says it was smoking hot every day!
They went snorkelling lots and saw so many fishies!  They did other stuff too, like fishing and swimming and making some new friends.  Those all sound like things I would like to do!  They should take me on their next vacation!
Mom finds dogs everywhere she goes! If she took me, she wouldn't be lonely and she wouldn't have to make new doggy friends!  Although, that puppy is pretty cute!
My 'rents had fun in the Caribbean.  Mom says it was a lovely vacation.  Fortunately we were all good for the dogsitters.  Dr. Candace came out once to check on Hobo, but there was nothing too serious wrong with him.  He's just super old and was missing Mom!

Maybe me and Hobo should go on the next vacation!

Vet trips!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Furiends

We've had two trips to the vet in the last week!  Didn't take us long to break in the new year, did it!?
I have not been one of the patients! Phew!

Last week my brother, Franklin, had to have a lump taken off his leg.  That lump was that stoopid cancer stuff!  It wasn't bugging Franklin too much, but it was growing fast and it would be really hurty soon!
Franklin is doing good after his surgery!  Our nice Dr. Candace thinks that she got all the cancer bugs!  The kind Franklin has usually doesn't spread but sometimes it comes back in the same spot.  I'll be keeping an eye out for any new lumps on my brofurr!  Franklin is kinda shy, but super nice to me, so I'll look out for him!

Today Mom got up to get ready for work. Alla us doggers went outside for a quick pee break, except Heyoka.  His back legs weren't working and he couldn't get up by himself!  Mom and Heyoka were waiting at the clinic when the staff unlocked the doors!

Turned out that Heyoka has a pinched nerve or something like that in his back.  He couldn't make his legs work and it was hurty.  He was grumpy until Dr. Candace gave him a bunch of medicine and poked him with some accupuncture needles!  That made Heyoka feel much better and he was allowed to come home! That made Mom feel much better!

Heyoka has to take some pills until he feels better and doesn't have any troubles walking.  Right now he only stumbles if he moves too fast or tries to turn in a hurry!  Oh, and I'm not allowed to bug him, wrassle with him, or otherwise annoy him for awhile!  I annoy Heyoka alot usually but I will try to be good!

I'm sure glad both my brofurrs are home!

Pictures and stuff...

Wooo Furiends

Mom finally put the pictures from New Year's Eve  on the computer!
We had a big party in our shop and lots of our friends came to visit.
My Uncle Charlie came over and we had a nice cuddle.  Uncle Charlie helped save my little life! I lived with him for a couple weeks before Mom said I could stay here!
We had some fireworks. Lots of people were shooting those off!  Some of my packmates were very unhappy with that!  Mom had to give Anvik one of his summer-time valium pills! He takes those cuz he is terrified of thunder bangers!  I guess fireworks sound kinda like thunder!  I wasn't too scared, but I stayed in the house anyway...that's where all the other dogs were and Mom was handing out treats!
I was a tuckered out Babydog after all that socializing!
Today was fresh bone day at my house!  That's always a good day! We were all very well behaved and no one stole anyone else's bones!  We are awesome dogs!
The moon is all big and shiny tonight!  Doesn't our house look cool in the moonlight?
That's my brother, Delta, getting in the picture too!

Happy New Year, Everyfur!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO Furiends

I just wanted to wish you all a happy, happy new year!
2011 wasn't too happy around here and we are all hoping that 2012 is much better!

We hope you are all happy and healthy this year too!

I have some pictures from our New Year's party, but Mom hasn't got them off her camera yet.  I was a partying fool babydog!

Sweet Sophia

Sad wooos again furiends

Yesterday one of my kitty siblings went to the bridge. Sophia was old and very sick.  She loved my Mom more than anything in the world, except maybe Fancy Feast! That cat did like her squishy foodies!

Sophia just couldn't fight all her troubles anymore.  Mom held her for hours and Sophia just drifted off.  She was in her most favourite spot, cuddled up against Mom's face.  If she had to go, I think that's a nice way for her to leave.

It's been a very, very sad year around my house.  I hope we get a break for awhile.  Our hearts are getting too hurty!

My BIG sisfur

Woooo furiends

We have lost another member of our family.  Yesterday my BIG sisfur, Kayleigh, went to the bridge.
Kayleigh lived here long before me. Mom brought her home in 2001, when Kayleigh was just 2 and a half years old. Mom says she was a tough girl!  Life wasn't too kind to Kayleigh when she was a babydog and she had some issues.  She did not like to share anything and she needed to have her own space.  I wasn't allowed in Kayleigh's pen.  Mom says I would have been a Kayleigh snack in no time!  I can be a bit much sometimes!

Kayleigh loved humans as much as she didn't like other dogs!  She loved belly rubs, playing fetch and going swimming.  She weighed over 100 pounds!  I told you she was my BIG sisfur!  She still thought she should be a lap dog though!
Tuesday night Kayleigh got real sick and kinda collapsed.  Our Mom was away so our dogsitter rushed her to the vet.  Kayleigh seemed to perk up overnight, but in the morning she had a seizure and died.  Mom was on her way home then.  She wishes she had made it in time to say goodbye, but I think Kayleigh wanted it this way....she was a real independant kinda dogger.  Dr. Candace said Kayleigh had acute kidney failure.

Goodbye, Kayleigh. I will miss wooing at you through your fence.  Behave yourself in Heaven!

Sad woooos

I am FIVE!!

WOOOOOOOOO Furiends

I am FIVE...a grown up Babydog!  Yesterday was my birthday!  Mom doesn't know what day I was really born on and I forget, but it was sometime in September.  September 29 is a sad day for my Mom's human family.  They had a tragedy on that day years ago.  She thought it would be nice to have something happy on that day too, so it's my birthday!
I had a nice day...playing with my friends and getting extra treats.  I got some new squeaky tennis balls too.  I love those things!  And I got to sleep on the bed, even though my Dad is home right now.  Usually I gotta sleep on the floor when he's home cuz he's a bed hog!

Happy  birthday to me, happy birthday to me......

Some fun stuff...

Woooooooooooo Furiends

Thanks for all the kindness after I lost my brofur.
We miss Earle very much around here.  I have been snuggling lots with Mom to make her feel better!

I thought I would post some fun stuff today!
We did have some fun this summer!
Those kids that my mom loves so much came to visit us again!

Aren't they getting big?  Kids grow up so fast!
All three of them stayed with us for a week or so.
Their Mom and step-Dad came too, but they didn't stay at my house.  They brought a house on wheels that they pulled behind their truck! Their baby sister didn't come either...too little!  Maybe next summer I will get to meet Zoe too!

Our Dad even came home to see those kids!  They went to Haines, Alaska for a couple days.
There were bears everywhere in Haines!  This little dude was playing in the river!  I think he was supposed to be catching his dinner, but you know sometimes ya gotta play!
The oldest girl, Naomi, stayed with us for 10 extra days all by herself. I took her for a walk and showed her around my neighbourhood! I'm a good hostess!

It was nice having her here. She's real quiet and super nice, especially to animals!   Extra hands for petting and opening doors are always a good thing!

My big brofur is gone....

Sad wooos yet again, furiends

Yesterday my big brother, Earle, made his way to the Bridge.  He didn't seem sick or nothing until a couple days ago.  He got really sick really fast.  His liver had cancer in it; he had a stroke or something; he couldn't even eat his dinner.
Our Dr. Candace said she couldn't fix him.  If any vet coulda fixed him, it would have been her!   There just wasn't anything that could help Earle have a good life again.
And oh, what a good life it was.  Earle was lucky enough to be with my Mom since he was just a babydog!  He never had to be rescued.  No human ever did a bad thing to him.  All he ever knew was happiness and love.
He was an uber-awesome big brofur.  Here he is showing me how to cross the scary creek bridge.  He taught me lotssa things and we had tons of fun together.

Mom says Earle was simply the best dog ever.   She and all of us will miss him very ,very much.

Godspeed Earle.
Thanks for being such a great brofur.
